Kensington Project Scrap book

The scrap book page is just some random pictures we thought you might like to see.  This project was a fun one for us.  The new kitchen and media room were the big projects in this renovation.  The house is a showplace again.

CurbAPPEALINGTM

This photo shows how inviting a front entrance can be made by integrating the look.

The door was purchased from a Richmond Architectural Salvage dealer where it was dipped and all paint removed.  LifeSTYLED used a multi layer process of protecting the natural wood with linseed oil and then applying beeswax to give a patina and seal out moisture.  This door appeared in STYLE Magazine and was thought to have been salvaged from an old plantation house.  There was no metal used in making the door so it is a true heritage piece.

Note how the light fixtures, address numbers, door knocker and mailbox are all in the same bronze finish.  This creates a custom look and unifies the design elements.

Lastly four matching zinc planters from Restoration Hardware TM were used to soften the entryway and add depth and color.  A cement bench was placed to the right to add inviting sitting space.

LifeSTYLED Tip:

The best time to get great deals on perennials is at the end of the summer.  Big Box stores mark them down along with trees and shrubs.  While everyone scampers to get their yards done in spring, you are best served in this economy waiting for the end of summer to do your planting.
