This stately townhouse commanded a high profile corner lot in the Museum District. As a distress sale, the home was in need of updating throughout, including a complete kitchen gut. Colors and fixtures were updated along with HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
Wonderful Moorish and Craftsman-inspired architectural details such as textured walls, coved ceilings, built-ins, arches and 2 full baths upstairs made this house of great interest to LifeSTYLED. We did it justice.
The red door and storm doors over the French Doors are the obvious offenders here.
An antique door, new hardware and lights, paint and some finishing touches. Subtle but effective!
These pictures prove that "less is more" By making subtle color changes and slight alterations to the facade, a stronger street presence is realized.
Ugly, inefficient and done back when Three's Company was still a hit show! GONE!
42 inch custom cabinets in a wash finish, new everything. Look at those floors! We reclaimed the hutch in the distance as well.
This classic fan/townhouse kitchen required a lot of design planning ot maximize the small space, accommodate appliances and provide enough storage for modern day needs. A large pantry was also renovated beyond the archway. Plenty of storage and a great kitchen!
The Pizza Hut light and matching brick wall had to go.....a new Italian tile floor was also installed.
What a difference!
While we miss the Pizza Hut arch and the vinyl floor.....not to mention the lovely light fixture, we are sure you will agree that the after photos show how small changes make a huge difference!
All of the archtectural details had been hidden by "rental white" paint and a bad mantle addition
Mantel uncovered, sconces updated, new paint shows the coved ceilings and just a beautiful room!
These pictures show how the right design choices can change a room. From the color which brought out the coved celings to keeping the sconces and finding new appropriate shades, to removing bad "enhancements" made over the years i.e. the fireplace screen, colonial mantel, wicker-look ceiling fan.
This paint choice does nothing to showcase the arches and built ins, time for a change.
After shot shows the warmer effect and how color can be used to "pop" the architectural details of the room.
This picture again illustrates the power of the right color choices to best showcase a home's true personality.
The subtle arch is lost in the sea of white. The 80's sconces fight with the traditional iron chandelier.
The warm taupe walls now accent the beautiful arch relief in this room. The sunroom was painted an apricot color to differentiate the space and draw the eye to the garden in the rear.
This dining room has now been bought back to it's rightful place as the largest room in the house. The new ceiling fan, sconces, paint and sunroom accent color change the feel dramatically.
The front guest suite commands the northwest corner of the house. This room was transformed from uninspiring to a cozy guest retreat. This bedroom also has an en suite bath, unusual for the period.
Dated fan, industrial rug and awful color choice add up to nightmares in the Master!
Warm colors, appropriate furnishings and luxury bedding make for a warm retreat.
Good paint costs about $25.00 a gallon. It is the most cost effective way to create the biggest change and impact.
Another view of master bedroom showing the master bathroom through the door which was also updated.
Like the rest of the house, the rear yard suffered from being neglected. The awning was tired and was removed to allow more sun into the kitchen. A tree was removed, bushes pruned, and the "L" part of the deck was taken out to allow for the planting of a perennial garden.
Nursery/Guest Room Before: Old fabrics and lack of color are uninviting.
Warm colors, bright trim and a great feel make for a welcoming room.
This room has an Adirondack/Camp feel which is a LifeSTYLED favorite. The room feels warm and cozy after being completely painted. The large window and built in bench seat are more great arthitectural accents.
Before: This space was used as a teen apartment and had never gotten the attention it deserved..
Lights, camera, action! Media room here we come!
The opportunity with this renovation was to take a badly renovated walk out basement and cost effectively make a media room out of the main room, updating the 70s kitchen without replacing the appliances and updating the 3/4 bath. New tile floors, beadboard ceiling, recessed lights, and warm colors round out this successful transformation.
The main opportunity in this project was making the bottom floor fully functional and inviting. HVAC was added and the 1970s renovation was updated to make it more modern and inviting. The budget was tight but we feel like we made a huge impact with some well chosen updates.

This photo shows the front gardens as planted by LifeSTYLED.
Yellow has been shown to be a "buy" color. When showing your house make sure to buy yellow flowers and put them throughout the house. Incorporate them into you exterior pots. Marigolds work well in hot weather. For fall and spring you can't go wrong with hearty pansies.
