  • Exterior: Before/After

    • Facade Before

      Tired, old, and uninviting.....
      LifeSTYLED to the rescue!

    • Facade After

A few inexpensive design choices and WHAM!

Although purists at heart, the LifeSTYLED team made the decision to replace the windows and keep the vinyl siding due to the economies of this renovation.  The result was a compromise that worked out in the end.

  • Kitchen Before

    • Kitchen Before

That isn't wallpaper it's contact paper.  This overstuffed, tiny kitchen needed a full renovation.

    • Kitchen Before

      Fridge, check, stove, check....washer?...uh, check

Like our Georgia  and Fendall Projects, this home required the removal of the wall between the unservicable kitchen and too small dining room.  Opening these rooms allowed for an extra storage closet to be built under a new staircase to the second story.

  • Dining Room Before

    • Dining Room Before

We are still trying to figure out how the dining room table and hutch actually fit in this room.

    • Dining Room Before

The acoustic tile ceiling, wallpaper, light fixture and dark crown molding all needed to be changed out.

The formal dining room was not needed in what was an 1000 sq ft starter home.  The decision was made to remove the wall the hutch was on to open up the claustrophobic kitchen  and make a more modern kitchen.

  • Kitchen/DR Combined After

    • Kitchen After

Crisp, modern and affordable.  New cabinets, appliances and counters.  Look at that tin backsplash!

    • Dining/Kitchen Combo - Dining Area View

The dining room is now open to the kitchen and creates a space to show off your culinary skills.

  • Bathroom Before/After

    • Bathroom Before

      From Brady Bunch

    • Bathroom After

      ...to smashing!!!

The tile was in good condition as was the tub so LifeSTYLED replaced the fixtures, lights, installed a fanlight over the tub, new faucets, sink unit and toilet.....

  • Living Room Before/After

    • Living Room Before

Shockingly enough, this is not the first disco ceiling we have seen!  The gold glitter really brings it home.

    • Living Room After

Neutralized and ready for a new owner!

  • Staircase Before/After

    • Stairs Before

What is worse, the stairs or the carpet?

    • Staircase After

New staircase is a huge improvement and adds value to the home.

Many homes built after WWII in the cape/cottage style were often built to be expanded upstairs later.  This home is not one of them due to the extremely awkward original staircase we nicknamed "the crippler."  LifeSTYLED saw the potentional for adding usable square footage and laundry facilities by opening up the second story.

  • Second Story Loft Space

    • Second Story Loft Area Before

Your guess is as good as ours.....

    • Second Floor Loft - Looking South

4 shades of white, painted floors and new halogen lights make this space feel open and cheery.

The upstairs was opened to create an office/third bedroom/etc.  The second story is now more usable due to the easier access and the laundry center that was built as well (see pictures below.)

  • Second Story Loft Area

    • Second Floor Loft Space - looking North

Looking North, a small room was fashioned that could be  a child's room, office, or den.  Bright and light, this space is now inviting and open.

    • Laundry Center

Laundry Center built upstairs to accommodate a 24 inch compact front loader washer and dryer behind each door....simple and elegant solution to a big problem.

The additional usable (heated and cooled) square footage that came from adding in the staircase increased the value of this home and provided the laundry area needed to make it a modern and liveable home.

  • Master Bedroom Before/After

    • Master Bedroom Before

Acoustic tile ceiling, panelled walls, thick shag carpeting, not a feast for the senses.....

    • Master Bedroom After

Master Bedroom After - new fans, 2 inch plantation blinds, neutral paint, and refinished wood floors.

This is the larger of the two first floor bedrooms.

Entry Porch/Front Door
Color Coordinated

To create a visual punch the door was painted a Cranberry Red to focus the eye on the entry.

4 colors were used in this renovation

  • Dove Grey
  • Charcoal
  • Black
  • Cranberry

This is always a "safe" color grouping and is proven to work together consistently..

 LifeSTYLED Tip

When purchasing fixturing for a small house it is best to try and match it up to make the house feel uniform.

This house used "oil rubbed bronze" throughout save for the bathroom were existing fixtures were chrome.

All light switches, fans, kitchen pulls, hooks etc are of the same material.  Think about this before starting a project.  It makes a big difference in the final product.
